Hello, I have just recently bought a new setup and ever since I am having issues with the refresh rate of my monitor while playing Counter-Strike 1.6. I'm using BenQ XL2410T, supports 120Hz, on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980. Sometimes it runs on 120Hz as it supposed to, but other times switches to the terrible 60Hz, e.g. if I ALT+TAB or even sometimes it starts at 60Hz. Very annoying. I have no idea where the problem lies, as I don't have this issue while playing CS:GO for instance or other games that do support such refresh rate. I am using 120Hz on desktop too. I use "-freq 120" in the launch options. I set the 3D application settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel to require the "highest available" refresh rate. I use native resolution for desktop. 640x480 in CS 1.6 with the "-nofbo" command in the launch options, as I really dislike the new rendering system introduced with the 2012 updates. To note, I didn't had this issue with the old rig. Windows 10 user with the latest video drivers. What kind of a solution can be applied to force "hl.exe" to use 120Hz? Is there a way that I can force my monitor to use 120Hz all the time no matter what? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
